Olympics opening ceremony: Paris Games off to rough start with rail attacks and grey skies

2024 are gearing up for an official kick-off with a long-awaited opening ceremony.

Starting at 7:30 pm CET, 205 delegations from around the world will parade along the Seine River, an event that is set to be attended by more than 300,000 people.

It's the first time in modern Olympic history that an opening ceremony will take place outside a stadium.

More than 1 billion people are expected to be tuning in worldwide.

However, the Friday ceremony has been marred by coordinated arson attacks on 's high-speed railways.
